A “Destination” Wedding — Right here in Texas
Kristyn & Nick at Camp Hideaway, Fredericksburg
While many destination weddings take guests across the country or overseas, Kristyn and Nick brought everyone together for a weekend getaway that felt worlds away—right here in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Just outside Fredericksburg, Camp Hideaway offered the perfect backdrop for the couple’s vision: a camp-style wedding experience full of personal touches and laid-back charm.
A Weekend Escape in the Hill Country
Camp Hideaway is designed with weddings in mind. With private guest cabins, a spacious main house, and a stunning reception hall overlooking sweeping hill country views, it’s easy to see why Kristyn and Nick chose to celebrate here. From the beginning of our time working together, the venue staff were incredibly supportive, and the entire property was set up to flow seamlessly from one part of the day to the next.
The couple took full advantage of the weekend venue buyout, decorating and setting up their reception area the day before with help from friends and family. When I arrived on the wedding day, Kristyn and her bridesmaids were enjoying a relaxed morning in the bridal suite, while the groomsmen got ready in the main house nearby. Everything felt calm, organized, and filled with happy anticipation.
Their Love Story - Beaded Into Their Day
One of the most unique and heartfelt elements of the day came from Kristyn’s Etsy business, where she creates personalized beaded bracelets. Beads were woven into so many parts of the celebration—starting with a special bracelet thank you gift she gave to each vendor.
The couple even shared that Nick’s proposal happened after a spilled jar of beads led him to one knee! On the wedding day, bracelets made another appearance in the seating chart—each guest found their name on a bracelet, strung beneath their table number. It doubled as a personalized favor and thoughtful keepsake (I’m still wearing mine months later). Kristyn also had beads sewn into the lining of her wedding dress, making the symbol quietly special from start to finish.
A Heartfelt Ceremony
Guests made their way to the ceremony lawn as acoustic covers filled the air. Family members entered to an light-hearted cover of the song “Stargazing”, followed by the wedding party to “What a Catch, Donnie.” Kristyn walked down the aisle escorted by her father to “She’s Everything,” played by the Cairn String Quartet.
The ceremony was emotional and sincere, with laughter and more than a few happy tears shed as Kristyn and Nick exchanged vows. They made their exit to “Nine in the Afternoon” by Panic! at the Disco—a fun, upbeat transition into cocktail hour.
Dinner, Dancing & a Cupcake Smash
The reception kicked off with a high-energy entrance from the wedding party, each pair dancing their way in to Kygo’s remix of “Higher Love.” After the couple’s first dance and parent dances, guests enjoyed a delicious Tex-Mex dinner from Chuy’s, followed by a dessert bar of oversized cookies. Heartfelt toasts and speeches from the couple’s parents, siblings, and friends added warmth and laughter to the special night.
Before the dance floor officially opened, Kristyn planned a surprise twist on the classic cake-cutting tradition: the “Cupcake Smash.” Instead of smashing cake into each other’s faces, she handed that honor to Nick and his best man—an idea she joked came about so she could keep her hair and makeup intact.
A Movie-Worthy Send-Off
The night ended with a picture-perfect cold sparks exit, lighting up the evening as Kristyn and Nick made their cinematic farewell. It was the perfect end to a weekend full of love, laughter, and thoughtful details—proof that a destination wedding doesn't have to be far to feel like a getaway you and your guests will long remember.
A favor to hold and to cherish
Thank you Kristyn for this wonderful gift and the unforgettable memories.
